Usually I'm further into the relationship before the muse really starts waking up, but I've got one out there right now, delivered and awaiting a verdict. Based on past experience, I won't be surprised if she likes the poem but still isn't sold on me.

Surely a poet or writer cannot break tradition and not write a poem for someone he or she fancies, can they?

I can say yes, on many occasions and the reactions were never negative.

Oh, I stuck them in a card featuring kittens, and funnily enough, failed to make a copy. Seeing as he's my ex now, they're probably at the bottom of a landfill. Hah.

However, if I do stumble across worthy haiku on DA or otherwise, I will be sure to inform you. ;p
